MV Maike D
Description
The container vessel MS “Maike D” was built in November 2000 by the J.J. Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde and is designed for the transport of standard containers, including out-of-gauge and high-cube containers. The vessel is optimized for carrying 40-foot containers. Flexible cell guides in the cargo holds allow for fast loading and unloading while ensuring a high level of cargo safety. The ship is equipped with 150 reefer plugs and is certified for the transport of dangerous goods, including in the cargo holds. The hull design was matched to the installed engine power to achieve a high service speed of approximately 18.5 knots while maintaining low fuel consumption. MS “Maike D” was specifically developed and built for operation in seasonally ice-covered waters (such as the Baltic Sea and the Great Lakes) and holds ice class E3. The vessel sails under the Liberian flag.
