Onboard, there’s no need to dress formally. Your everyday clothing will be quite sufficient but do remember that you will be at sea, so it can be cool, even in the summer.
You will need a valid passport or identity card.
All shipping companies require proof of adequate insurance. These include in particular travel health and liability insurance. We also recommend travel cancellation and luggage insurance. For travellers over the age of 65, all shipping companies require a medical certificate; for Atlantic crossings and longer trips, some require medical certificates for all passengers, regardless of age. You will receive forms from us.
Deviation insurance is provided for each traveller, which covers the costs incurred by the shipping company when the vessel is forced to change course, for example, to take a person on-board to the nearest port in case of illness or accident. The amount depends on the size of the vessel, the route, and the age of the insured person.
You can either travel by car or train to the boarding ports in Northern Europe. At some ports, it is possible to park the vehicle for the duration of the journey.
A few days before the start of the journey, we will usually update you about the current timetable. On the day of arrival or the evening before, you should then contact the captain directly by telephone in order to clarify the details (exact time and terminal). We will provide you with the phone number in good time.
Travel costs to/from the port are yours to cover.
The normal duration of the journey is 7-10 days on MV Maike D and 12 days on MV Thetis; the charges are billed on a daily basis. €75.00 per person/day in an apartment/ Single cabin €70.00 excl. deviation insurance.
The prices include accommodation and meals. Refreshments and alcoholic drinks are not included in the price. In addition, each passenger must purchase deviation insurance. You can pay the captain onboard directly or after your trip by bank transfer.
